Before ordering, compare the final price of your chosen size and design. Offers can differ between products, and the largest rug is not always the best option for your room.
Find the Right Rug Style for Your Home
Black Friday is a good opportunity to compare rug styles, especially if you've been planning to refresh a living room or bedroom.
The best choice depends on your furniture, the space available and how you use the room.
Shaggy Rugs for a Soft, Cosy Finish
Shaggy rugs have a deeper pile that creates a soft, textured surface. They can work particularly well beside a bed or in a living room where you want a more relaxed appearance.
Neutral shades such as grey, cream and beige are easy to coordinate with existing furniture, while darker or brighter colours can create contrast.
Explore Yorkshire Bedding's shaggy rug collection to compare available colours, shapes and sizes.
Keep maintenance in mind. Deep-pile rugs may need more attention when vacuuming, and not every shaggy rug is machine-washable. Check the individual product's care instructions.
Modern Rugs for Contemporary Living Spaces
Modern rugs are a practical choice if you prefer geometric patterns, understated textures or designs that complement contemporary furniture.
A neutral rug can help bring different pieces of furniture together, while a contrasting pattern may become a focal point in an otherwise simple room.
For a busy living room, consider how easy the rug will be to clean as well as how it looks. Pile height, material and construction can affect everyday maintenance.
Traditional Rugs for Timeless Style
Traditional rugs often feature decorative borders, detailed patterns and classic colour combinations.
They can work in both traditional and modern interiors. For example, a patterned rug can add interest beneath a plain sofa or help bring colour into a neutral living room.
If you prefer Persian-inspired patterns, Yorkshire Bedding's traditional area rug is available in several designs and sizes. Its product listing also provides material and washing information to help you decide whether it suits your room.
How to Choose the Right Rug Size During Black Friday
A discounted rug is only good value if it fits the space where you intend to use it.
Before ordering, measure the available floor area and consider how the rug will sit in relation to your furniture.
Living Room Rugs
For a living room, think about whether you want the rug to sit beneath the coffee table, extend under the front legs of your sofa or cover a larger seating area.
A rug that is too small can look disconnected from the furniture, while one that is too large may overwhelm a compact room.
Bedroom Rugs
For a bedroom, consider how much soft flooring you want beside or around the bed.
A smaller rug can work beside the bed, while a larger rug may extend beneath it and remain visible along the sides.
Hallway and Dining Room Rugs
For a hallway, measure the width and length carefully and leave enough clearance for doors and furniture.
In a dining room, choose a rug large enough for the table and chairs to remain comfortably positioned when chairs are pulled out.
Always compare the actual measurements in centimetres rather than relying only on labels such as small, medium or large.
Choose a Rug That Suits Your Everyday Routine
Colour and design matter, but the rug's material and cleaning requirements are just as important.
Before taking advantage of a Black Friday offer, consider the following:
- Material: Check the product description to understand the fabric and how to maintain it.
- Pile height: A deep pile may feel softer, while a lower pile can be more practical in some busy areas.
- Cleaning: Confirm whether the rug requires vacuuming, hand washing or machine washing.
- Backing: Check whether the rug is suitable for your flooring or needs a compatible underlay.
- Size: Measure your room and compare the dimensions of each available option.
If you have children, pets or a frequently used living room, cleaning requirements may be especially important. Do not assume every rug described as easy-care is machine-washable.
How to Get Better Value From Black Friday Rug Offers
The biggest advertised discount is not always the best reason to choose a rug. It is worth comparing the product itself before deciding.
Use these simple checks:
- Decide where the rug will go. Measure the space and choose a suitable size before comparing prices.
- Compare different designs. Consider which colours and patterns will work with the furniture you already own.
- Check the final price. Review the selected size and any applicable promotion before checkout.
- Read the product specifications. Pay attention to material, thickness, backing and cleaning instructions.
- Review delivery and returns information. Make sure the ordering terms meet your requirements.
Choosing a rug that fits your room and suits your daily routine can offer better long-term value than buying one simply because it has a large discount label.
Refresh More Than Just Your Floors This Black Friday
A rug can make a noticeable difference on its own, but you can also coordinate it with other soft furnishings for a more complete look.
For example, a neutral shaggy rug can complement plain cushions and curtains, while a patterned rug can work well with simpler sofa covers.
Yorkshire Bedding's Black Friday range also includes selected bedding and home accessories, so you can compare products across different rooms without needing a complete home makeover.
